PAUL
(guitar, vocals)
Paul has been playing for as long as Francis & Co! He initially followed a
very similar path too, starting out in local groups during the early '60s
before turning professional a few years later. Along with drummer Steve, he
was actually on the same bill as Status Quo in 1971, and by strange coincidence,
a young Lars was also there that night, as a member of another supporting
group...After
being in a succession
of 'almost made it' bands for a good part of the '70s, Paul decided to take
a break from performing and concentrated on recording. This eventually evolved
into a fully-fledged studio, in partnership with Steve... Around ten
years later he was tempted back out on the road and subsequently appeared
in a variety of line-ups, as well as enjoying an eight-year stint as a solo
artist... He renewed a playing acquaintance with Steve
and Lars late in the '90s, forming the nucleus of a popular and accomplished
outfit that was to become STATUS CLONE... During his career, Paul has
appeared on Channel 4's 'The Tube' and 'Pebble Mill At One' on the BBC, as
well as other national and local TV and radio programmes... In
addition to playing guitar, he's acknowledged as an authority on the instrument
itself, regularly writing for numerous magazines around the world and contributing
to more than 50 books.
